Reflections on Over Two Decades in Cybersecurity
It’s my 3rd cuppa at the desk and with over 2 decades now spent doing cyber security – believe me when I say, I go waaay back baby, back to 1993 as a network admin having to manage voice and data mux over good old PSTN – I am at a loss to how much had changed but, at the same time, how much has remained stubbornly the same.
I’ve seen it all: from the chaotic days of Slammer worm downings networks to now aiding banks in overhaul of their zero trust architectures. Came back from DefCon as well, and damn, that hardware hacking village just gets me all excited.
But here’s the catch: Cybersecurity isn’t some fixed entity you can lock in place and forget about — it’s a living, breathing monster that requires ongoing attention, evolution and, yes, a certain amount of careful skepticism.
